Animal Crossing New Leaf offers numerous ways for players to customize their characters’ appearance, including through hairstyles available at Shampoodle Salon in-game. Players can also accessorize and style their characters’ hair using unique accessories. At the start of the game, your initial hairstyle is determined by how you respond to Rover’s questions, and it can be changed at Shampoodle for 3,000 bells. Harriet, the pink poodle on Harv’s Island, also offers one complimentary haircut daily.
The 2.0 update of Animal Crossing New Leaf introduced additional hairstyles, colors, Mii masks, and eye colors at Shampoodle. Unlocking these features may require completing tasks or spending Nook Miles. To unlock female characters with slicked-back ponytails, choose “Rather Casual” or “Neat Freak!” when answering Rover’s initial queries.

Unlike previous games in the franchise, Animal Crossing: New Leaf allows players to customize their character’s hair color. This can be done at Shampoodle’s Salon, where player answers determine the hairstyle and color received. Alternatively, wigs matching existing character hair colors can be purchased and applied. To unlock Shampoodle’s cosmetic options, players must spend 8,000 bells at Able Sisters and visit Kicks shoe store. Nook Miles can also unlock over 100 body paint, hairstyle, and eye color choices at Nook Stop.
