Hairball stands out more than your typical tribute band; their Minnesota-based group describes themselves as an extravagant celebration of arena rock music. Lead guitarist Happy is so passionate about it that this endeavor represents more than a job to him!
Vocalists
Minneapolis-based Hairball stands apart from other tribute bands by performing all songs live without lip-syncing or using other means to recreate songs, like many others do. Their five-piece band has sold out venues nationwide and includes top impersonators of rock stars from the 1970s and ’80s who wear costumes that closely resemble what their original bands wore while performing songs live, just as the real bands did! Their band comprises vocalists Joe Dandy and Kris Vox, guitarist Happy, bassist Freaky, and drummer Billy. Their set list features hits by KISS, Van Halen, Aerosmith, Motley Crue, and Queen.
HAIRBALL Live Experience
Hairball is an experience and attitude unlike any other. From lights, sound, video screens, smoke, fire bombs, and screaming fans – HAIRBALL creates an experience like no other! From its lighting effects, video screens, video screenings, smoke, firebombs, and screaming hoards of fans, creating an event truly one-of-a-kind! Think of Hairball like Mount Rushmore of rock ‘n’ roll; its stage acts as a time capsule that will transport you back to when music was hot, and heroes were larger than life! HAIRBALL lives and breathes Rock ‘n’ Roll.
Guitarists
Hairball stands apart from the many “80’s tribute bands” around, providing an experience, attitude, and expression of music transcending its mere retro flashback status to become part of everyday life. From its roots as a humorous side project performing suburban dives in Halloween wigs, the band has since blossomed into an explosive national touring act. Their shows showcase arena rock’s glory to millions of fans across America by performing two-hour performances that pay homage to KISS, Van Halen, Motley Crue, and more – an uncannily accurate tribute for hundreds of thousands. Joe Dandy and Bobby Jensen, guitarist Kris Vox, bassist HBK, and drummer Billy make up the core group that brings these iconic characters to life. Rehearsals for each performance take weeks to perfect each song and replicate their heroes onstage as closely as possible; for Jensen, this means more than songs; these performances represent their lives!
Bassists
Hairball isn’t your average tribute band: their talented musicians pay tribute to some of the biggest arena bands like Van Halen, KISS, Motley Crue, and Aerosmith – with costumes and lights as part of a total production! Hairball offers something genuinely memorable for anyone wanting to see their favorite band perform live! The bar boasts an enormous fan base and regularly sells out venues that even national touring acts can’t fill. Band members interact with audiences to ensure everyone has an enjoyable time; their accurate portrayals have also earned them praise from musicians whom they emulate. Dan Dryden, known for playing bass with original bands like Stuck Mojo and Fozzy and Georgia-based Black Mollys, has been with Hairball for two years. Rather than selling out by joining a cover act like Hairball, he enjoys being part of an ensemble that “gets paid like a real band,” earning more money in return than what would have been made playing original music.
Drummers
Hairball stands out among tribute bands as an unmissable concert experience – not simply as a band but as a full-scale concert event, complete with costume changes and dead-on renditions of classic rock songs. Suppose this show has never been experienced first-hand, don’t worry. Lights, sounds, video screens, smoke machines, firebombs, and screaming fans combine into an unforgettable event – not simply a concert! Imagine Las Vegas meets Arena Rock incorporated into one fantastic show – it will undoubtedly provide one of the most thrilling shows you will ever witness. Hairball features vocalists Joe Dandy and Kris Vox, electric bassist HBK, drummer Billy, and lead guitarist Happy. These four members grew up immersed in classic rock and metal music but realized when it came time to choose a career path that music wasn’t simply a hobby; now it is their way of life, with packed arenas and state fairs across the country such as Deadwood Mountain Grand featuring Hairball shows!
