Tanaka is protective of Kiyoko and shows special affection towards her and Nishinoya. Hinata and Yamamoto admire each other during games and tease each other. Tanaka knocks Hinata about her impulsiveness but also offers protection. Yamamoto is a skilled spiker and utilizes straight spikes successfully against Kageyama’s block. Tanaka impresses Hinata and Yamamoto with his coordination.

Tanaka is a loud and hot-headed player who often argues with his teammates. He struggles academically and is frequently late for practice. However, he is intimidating when playing opponents due to his muscular build and delinquent appearance. Tanaka is confident and sometimes thinks he is better than his teammates, but he pushes aside these feelings and gives his all during games. He is nervous and vulnerable to criticism, as shown by his reaction to Tsukishima’s remarks.
Tanaka’s Attitude
Tanaka is an aggressive and volatile player who quickly gets angry. He does not tolerate disrespect towards others, as seen when confronting Tsukishima during a match. Tanaka is passionate about girls and admires Kiyoko. He tries to win her over and acts as her bodyguard. He is a skilled receiver and can reposition himself to make difficult catches.
Tanaka’s Skills
Tanaka is an explosive spiker with speed and a strong jump serve. He excels as a setter and anticipates his teammates’ spikes. He can hit cross shots with his jump serve but sometimes needs help with aiming and power. He is known for his blocking solid capabilities, and diving saves. However, he couldn’t keep Hoshiumi’s spike from damage.
Tanaka of Niiyama Girls’ High was introduced to volleyball by Kanoka. He comforted her when she was being bullied and tried to get closer to her by proposing. However, she rejected his proposal, and he apologized in return.
